1. Magnifying glass for close-up photography




You can’t afford an expensive macro lens to take close-ups? Do not worried! Get very close to the object you want to photograph and place a magnifying lens on top to zoom in on the subject. Then position your lens close to this magnifying glass before pressing the shutter button. Remember to hold the magnifying glass firmly while taking pictures.

2. Homemade Bokeh Photography Tools




Taking bokeh photos (blurred background) is simpler than you think. Make your own filter from a black cardboard sheet by cutting a circle that fits snugly onto the lens on your mirrorless camera and cut a hole in the shape of the desired blurring. Make sure this image is small and correctly cut. Before shooting, set your lens to the lowest aperture value, and adjust the focus point so that you can see the hole in the cover where the light source is in the image.

Tip: Use the manual focus mechanism to help you adjust both aperture and shutter speed. For a better bokeh image, increase the distance between the subject and the background. You can do this by reducing the distance between the camera and your subject. The shallower depth of field means that the more blurry your photo will be, creating a more beautiful bokeh effect.

3. Add Texture With Cellophane




Forget the pre-designed filters that everyone has. Give your photos a simple elegance with just an easy-to-find transparent cellophane. This trick creates a nice texture for the photo without any post-editing. Just wrap the cellophane around your lens and shoot. You can even use multicolored cellophane – because the possibilities are endless!

Who would have thought that a sieve could become handy as a photography tool? Experiment by rotating the sieve in different directions to create more interesting shadow patterns. Tip: Take this shot in the afternoon when the light is brighter so that the shadow is also sharper.

5. Homemade Classic Color Filter




Leather pants are probably something you never thought possible to take advantage of in photography. If you want to create a classic look for your photos, wrap a leather pants over the lens to create a soft or dispersing filter. Stretch the light beige leather pants over the front of the lens and fix it with a firm rubber band. You should also experiment with shooting at different levels of tension in different leather pants when covering the front of the lens.

Tip: Try out leather pants with different weaving or threads to see the difference!
